Custom homes on Spanish lots, built by good people
|
In 1675 a Spanish settlement was built on the bluff near this site overlooking the Amelia River due to its fine harbor. Fort San Carlos was later built and Old Town grew up behind its walls. In 1811, due to burgeoning trade and growth, the government of Spain replatted Old Fernandina. The Old Fernandina grid remains as one of the last and purest examples of the “Law of the Indies” planning edict of 1573. Old Town Properties LLC intends to develop the property as a community of homes and businesses in keeping with the history and environment of the area.
